Sinopse do Episódio "Who are we? Inês Ferreira and Isabela Adão"
Our podcast is hosted by Brazilian marketing guru and travel blogger extraordinaire, Ines Ferreira, and Brazilian-American model and behavior therapist, Isabela Adao. We are both Afro-Latinas living in Queens, New York, and have a deep desire to impact our community in meaningful ways. One way we thought to do that is by creating a travel guide, called The New Green Book, of New York City. The guide would highlight the Black experience in the City, which we know is a vibrant one, while showcasing Black businesses and bringing much needed tourism dollars to our community. We also hope to inspire people of color- particularly millenial women, like ourselves- from our home country to travel and expand their horizons, so our podcast will be recorded in English and in Portuguese. Leaving Brazil to see how others live their lives had such an empowering effect on the both of us, so we would love to leave behind a roadmap for other women of color to do the same! While we are well aware of current travel restraints, we also think this is the perfect time to position ourselves well in the market for when those travel restraints are inevitably lifted. Our podcast has grown out of that greater project. We thought it would be illuminating to other young people of color for us to share our experiences as we undertake this endeavor to uplift entrepreneurs in our community. This podcast also seeks to create a community of travelers of color from all over the world who seldom see themselves represented in the travel community and even more seldom still have their stories told and heard. We are excited to create a one-stop shop safe space for travellers of color, echoing the intentions behind the original Green Book, but with a contemporary twist as all resources would be available digitally, and our readers would not be running from Jim Crow, but towards empowerment and liberation. Our intended audience ideally resembles us: young people of color (and allies!) who love to travel and want to 1) appreciate Black culture as they travel to NYC
