John Gilmour is the founder of the LEAP Science and Maths Schools and co-founder of Bridge and the South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition.

John Gilmour is addressing inequalities in the education system in South Africa by providing better education opportunities to learners from less advantaged communities while bridging the social divide with their counterparts in more privileged schools. While doing so, he is reforming the education system itself by equating high performance in science and maths with the development of the learners’ social-emotional intelligence.
